This supermarket chain beat out Wegmans as nation’s favorite grocery store
Great Wall Supermarket chain has dethroned Wegmans as the country’s favorite grocery store, according to Newsweek’s latest list of America’s Best Retailers.
Wegmans, based in Rochester, New York, is now No. 2 in the supermarkets category, after hovering in the top spot in 2023 and 2022.
Great Wall Supermarket is a specialized Asian-American supermarket chain, which was established in New York City in 2004.
The supermarket has locations in California, Texas and Georgia, as well as several stores in New York City, and the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan and Boston areas.
Newsweek surveyed more than 7,000 shoppers for their opinions on retailers spanning 40 industry categories — such as apparel, electronics and supermarkets — resulting in a ranking that recognizes the 200 best places to make a purchase.
